VIDEO: Spoolfool Spotlights Their Carbon Fiber F-body Fenderwells

The GM G-body is one of those cars that has crossed barriers between all genres of the automotive world. Whether you’re into drag racing, road racing, or simply cruising the boulevards, the G-body is an excellent platform to make an automotive expression. Arguably chief among them, is the Turbo Buick; the T-type, Grand National and of course, the GNX.

There are several companies that dedicate all of their products on these cars, but none like Spoolfool Productions. Based in Southern California, and having focused entirely on the Turbo Buick for over a decade, Mike “Spoolfool” Barnard is expanding his expertise on all-things G-body. For the last three years, he’s been burning the midnight oil on getting these carbon fiber inner fenders for the G-body correct — down to a science!

Initially creating them for Turbo Buick owners, and LS swap Regal, Grand Prix, and Cutlass enthusiasts, he’s now extending them into the Monte Carlo, Malibu and El Camino. The idea, being to not only offer a durable, lightweight alternative to the funky-looking OEM pieces, but to lend a touch of class and style to your engine bay. It’ll also allow you to keep the gravel, mud and various debris out of your engine bay, for those of you who usually prefer to remove them entirely. It’s a great balance of form and function coming together.

They’re perfect for those of you who want a clean aesthetic for your race car, show car, or custom cruiser. Oh, and if you’re one of the many G-body owners looking to run much larger-than-ordinary wheel sizes on your car (22-inch+), Spoolfool offers these in slightly different configurations, and with options to do that.

Now, while there aren’t any provisions for your battery, smog pump, or other fender well mounted accessories, Mike does say that the carbon fiber pieces are durable enough to hold them in place — although this also sort of defeats the purpose of them. We tend to agree. One of our favorite parts about these fender wells, is that they’re made in the USA, like all Spoolfool Products, and you can lean more about them directly, HERE. If you’re new to his brand, you can get a great overview of the current products being offered by Spoolfool, RIGHT HERE.
