If there’s anything we can say about the 6th-Gen ZL1 Camaro, is the capability to produce superior horsepower with relatively minimal effort. The fact that it’s a factory supercharged car makes the car’s levels of potential impressive, but once that potential is actually realized, all bets are off.
That’s what the crew at Florida High Performance are all about, helping these special cars tap into their inner badass, by maximizing what’s already there, and sprinkle in some aftermarket speed parts.
Some of these cars that come through the doors of FLHP’s shop, have already been modified to some level. Such is the case of Dan’s 2017 ZL1.
Already modified with an exhaust, Roto-Fab intake, and an aftermarket blower, there were some good parts into the combo but a lot of them were mismatched. Also, some components weren’t even installed correctly, or functioning properly — or even at all.
So, looking to fix the various issues, makes some real power, and put a smile back on Dan’s face, FLHP’s Erik Bentley ordered up some new hardware, swapped out the previous blower for a Magnuson 2650R, and re-calibrated the car’s ECU to the tune f 902hp and 884 lb-ft to the rear tires. That’s up from the 728hgp and 767 lb-ft baseline of the car, the way that it was when Dan brought it to Erik. Now, of course, you’ll see that there was a fuel change from 93-octane to E50, but even with the higher octane level, the 174hp and 117 lb-ft difference speaks for itself.
In the video hosted at the top of this page, you’ll get to earn the backstory of Dan and his car, as well as hear Erika’s take on what was all involved in getting the car to where it’s at today.
