The E-Ray C8 Corvette is a hybrid first for the model; a Corvette is powered by the same LT2 found in the standard Corvette, but with an electric battery nestled in the front of the car; offering additional torque, horsepower, AWD, and the ability to kill the engine, and run it just on the electric battery. You know, for when you return home in the wee hours of the morning, after those late-night “drives” through the city.
But some of us are out here taking these cars a lot more seriously. Maybe too seriously. You have Roshan from Boost District Superchargers taking to these cars without any hesitation. Typically more in-tune with the aftermarket superchargers commonly found under the hoods of today’s performance cars, Roshan has decided to take in uncharted territory. Not in supercharging an E-Ray, but strapping on a couple of snails to the LT2 — to amazing results.
With horsepower numbers reportedly somewhere over the 1,000hp barrier, Roshan took to the drag strip to see just how quick this car really is, in the quarter-mile. Initial testing provided a best time of 9.97 at 146mph. However, with additional tuning, and a better launch, the time clock reported a best of 9.46 at 143mph. Now, it should be said that this is still a stock engine C8, with an aftermarket turbo setup put together by Boost District.
This includes a stock bottom end (minus LPE forged pistons to handle the boost), heads, cam, and intake. The fuel system has been upgraded with an LPE DI fuel pump, the clutch has been upgraded to a heavy duty unit, built in-house, and the computer is managed by Trifeta software. All on all, a very simple but very effective recipe.
