If you’re the owner of a LT4-powered vehicle (ZL1, Z06, CTS-V), then you’re probably already familiar with the notion of an aftermarket supercharger lid. Pitched as a way to increase sound, looks, performance, and overall efficiency to your engine, it’s one of the most popular modifications owners of these vehicles implement into their build.
There’s been some debate on who makes the “best” example currently on the market. Usually, the best meaning sheer performance, but there’s much more to price and performance when it comes to choosing your lid.
But in an attempt to “out blower-whine” the Hellcat boys, many ZL1/Z06/CTS-V owners wants all of the sounds that come with owning a supercharged vehicle. So looking to settle the debate — well, maybe lend some insight, anyway — our friend Erik Bentley at Florida High Performance scooped up one lid from four different manufacturers.
They are; DSX Tuning, Late Model Performance, Weapon X, and MPI.
While their dimensions, price, and design is unique to each lid, we get to see how they differ on the dyno, as well as the sound they provide in the video above. The results, in terms of peak horsepower and torque gains are below, but thee’s a lot ore to the comparison than just raw power. Fitment, price, sound, included components, and more, also factor into the equation depending on which lid you choose. Again, Erik breaks it down for us in the video above.
