In case you haven’t been following along lately, and we have no clue why you wouldn’t be, our friends over at Florida High Performance have been cranking away on this C8 in their shop. Now, this isn’t an average,e ordinary every day Corvette that fill the streets of Florida, Texas and just about every small town in the country. This one has taken a different approach to its performance capabilities.
When the C8 was first realized, there was a mad scramble on trying to crack the car’s ECU. Unfortunately, it proved a tough nut to crack — limiting many tuners and car builders in what they could do to wake this machine up. HP Tuners started immediately, and within the last year, finally got the computer to access it parameters to the point that we can actually tune these cars to our liking, with the parts that we want to apply. Erik utilized the Global B update into the tuning of this car, utilizing a unique boost control module from Peitz Performance.
The twin turbo kit initially made 704 rewhip to the tires in 93-ocatne pump gas, which is quite the leap from the car’s baseline, but the owner of the car wanted more. With some fine tuning, and with the help of Alex Peitz, the boost wad raised from 9-psi to 15-psi. Additional tuning went into the mix, and while maintaining the current mechanical configuration, and fuel type the horsepower jumped up from 704, to 886 — nearly a 200hp gain! For reference, peak torque also climbed from 692 to 776-lb ft.
When can give you all of the in’s and out’s in text, but we’ll let our good friend Erik over at Florida High Performance explain all of the intricacies in the video above, and don’t forget to check out PART 1 and PART 2 of the build series of this car, if you haven’t already!
