If there’s one pony car that’s changing the game, it’s the Camaro ZL1 1LE. Destined for the road courses of the world, it’s one of the hottest and fastest cars out there, especially when priced for a hair under $70k. With mag-ride, massive Brembo brakes and functioning aero, and a Nurburgring lap time of 7:16.04, it can hold its own against some of the best from Europe.
Its LT4 packs a 650hp punch, but of course, there’s always room for improvement. With 376 cubic inches and a blower already in place, it’s a no-brainer that its owner would seek improved performance and increased horsepower.
Our friends at PCM of NC recently had one on the dyno, that featured Kooks long-tube headers, a RotoFab cold-air intake, a boost-friendly cam and valve train, and the boost turned up a little. With HP Tuners software handling he custom calibration, PCM of NC produced a total of 681hp and 742 ft-lbs of torque to the rear tires.
UPDATE: PCM of NC brought he customers car back in, to install a Whipple blower. With the addition of the upgraded supercharger, more boost ad further tuning, the ZL1 iLE has now seen a best of 832hp and 788-lb ft. of torque to the rear tires. Not bad at all!
