There’s no getting around the fact that the 2015 C7 Z06 is one hot car. With 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque being spun from its supercharged 6.2L LT4 GEN-V powerplant, the horsepower wars continue to rage on. As with any boosted factory mill, big bolt-on power will be a cinch for tuners all over the world.
John Hennessey, founder and CEO of Hennessey Performance recently discussed his plans for the C7 Z06, in terms of possible performance packages and modifications while at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Before he gets into that, however, he does mention that the car is going to cost more than you can expect it to.
Thanks to limited availability, immense popularity, and the fact that most of them will be the fully-loaded, Z07-equipped examples, you can expect the price point to be north of the projected $79,000. John’s thinking you won’t be able to get into one for less than $105,000, much like the departed C6 ZR1.
Despite that, he’s happy to report that he plans on releasing ported cylinder heads, camshaft upgrades, a modified blower, upgraded exhaust components, tuning, and air intakes for the brand new LT4. John claims that these mods will help easily squeeze another 100-150 hp from the blown engine. He admits that he’s not a fan of the new seven speed manual, and prefers the 8-speed auto, due to the lack of the “odd feeling” that the 7-speed provides. He’s guessing the more popular Ā arrangement will be with the 8-speed auto.
If you want more than 800 hp, he’s predicting that a larger blower would be necessary. He doesn’t plan on doing much with the brakes, or suspension, however, since he’s willing to bet that the new Z06 will go 7:05 around the Nurburgring in its stock format. As the saying goes, if ain’t broke, don’t fix it. John and the Hennessey team also plan on furtherĀ personalizing the car with wheels and other slight cosmetic tweaks. Keep it locked here as more news develops!
