There’s no denying the appeal of the COPO (Central Office Production Order) Camaro from Chevrolet Performance. Not a registrable or road-legal vehicle by any means, this drag-only monster is available with a series of different engine combinations for different classes of LSX racing series. How do you get one? You have to head ever to your local licensed Chevrolet Performance dealer, such as Scoggin-Dickey or Pace Performance, fill out the necessary forms and wait for approval.
No really, not just any rich schmuck can own one of these. You have to be active in the drag racing world, and you have to undergo an approval process to be selected for purchase.
With only 69 examples being produced every year (since 2012), Chevrolet Performance doesn’t want these cars just sitting in collector’s garages – they want to see them competing viciously at the track!
Thanks to a recent article from Bangshift, we caught wind of one such COPO owner that has decided to document his racing footage by attaching a GoPro camera to his engine compartment. The exact reason why he did this is beyond our knowledge, but witnessing the sheer brutality of the blown 327 LS that his car came equipped with from the Performance Build Center at WOT is just epic. We’re pretty sure the guys in Wixiom are proud.
If you want to learn more about COPO, you can head over to the Chevrolet Performance website, by clicking here for the quick background story, and to see the available engine options for 2014 and 2015 COPO Camaros!
