FLHP has been running full steam ahead with spreading high horsepower builds all over South Florida. Specializing in C7, C8 and 6th-gen Camaro performance, mainly, they’re well-hearted in late-model HEMI and older GM LT and LS vehicles, too. In this case, a 2016 C7 Z06 Corvette gets it horsepower score raised with some interesting new components.
Chief among with, is a Harrop 2650 supercharger. For those out of the loop, the 2650 designates the displacement in cubic-centimeters of the supercharger. So, it’s essentially a 2.7L blower strapped to the factory 6.2L engine in lieu of the original supercharger from General Motors.
The car owned by a local to FLHP, Willy S., has entrusted Erik and his team with tuning and modifying the Vette to not only showcase FLHP’s work, but to provide Willy with the performance he was looking for from his car. The supercharger is certainly a great start, but a well-rounded out package was the name of the game, here. The LT4 air pump under the hood certainly benefits from increased airflow, so on the intake side of things, a CORSA carbon fiber cold-air intake feeds air into the Katech 103mm throttle body, and into the blower snout.
A custom camshaft, also from Katech, went inside the block — one that was not too aggressive, but made good peak power and torque. The heads were CNC-ported for maximum airflow, and a set of American Racing Headers long-tubes help expel the spent gases much easier. Helping keep things cool under the hood is a Dewitts fan and radiator kit, and a CPR heat exchanger and expansion tank.
DDTech Tuning handled the laptop side of things, bringing the final score to 732hp 769 lb-ft — doubling factory boost from 9 to 18psi, in the process, while maintaining 93-octane real-world drivability.
