Modern powertrain swaps are all of the rage these days, and as a result, we’re seeing more and more overdrive conversions in some of our favorite musclecars. Among the most popular, are GM’s 4L80E/4L85Es, as they offer a very decent packageĀ with smooth shifting, reliability and improved economy over classic transmissions, such as the TH400. These gearboxes were commonly installed in the earlier LS-powered full-sized trucks.
Of course, many enthusiasts understand that the 4L80E and 4L85E transmissions can be a bit temperamental, partially as they age and suffer wear and tear. They’re also known for their limitations when huge power and torque numbers are applied. So naturally, many of us have found ourselves upgrading them from our friends like TCI. On top of supplying gearheads with shift kits and even complete transmission assemblies, they’ve been known to offer functional dress up items, such as these chromed pans.

This new chrome transmission pan from TCI offers customers a way to dress up their 4L80E/4L85E and 6x Six-Speedā¢ transmissions. It is the only stock-depth pan on the market. The transmission pan has often been an overlooked part of the drivetraināuntil now.
The only stamped, stock-depth pan available on the aftermarket, this new piece was designed for optimal ground clearance. TCI also saw this as an opportunity to dress up a popular transmission option from General Motors. The transmission pan is chrome-plated for corrosion resistance, features a gasket and drain plug, and is embossed with the TCI logo.
