One of the hottest trends in car shows and in the hobby as a whole, is the Cars and Coffee movement. Basically, it’s an early-to-rise car show for those who are morning people – or just really eager to plop behind the wheel of their cherished ride first thing in the AM for conversation and a cup of joe with fellow car geeks. These things usually kick off around 5 or 6 am, or right around the time we’re going to bed, so we haven’t really had the chance to attend one – until now.
We were recently invited to Smokey’s Dyno & Performance for their Cars and Coffee event on July 25th. Located in Akron, Ohio, Smokey’s typically caters to everyone from the LS tuners (us), to the classic musclecar owner or European exotic connoisseur. We’ve seen pretty much everything in their shop and the turnout that they had on that particular day certainly reflected that.
We saw everything from LS-swapped ’90s Tahoes, to a Ferrari 599 and a Porsche 918. LS-powered F-bodies and 5th-gen Camaros were accounted for, we witnessed a huge variety of G8s and GTOs and there were plenty of C5, C6 and C7 Corvettes in attendance, too! We even caught a glimpse of a super clean ’80s IROC-Z as well, for all of you third-gen fanatics out there!
Check out the photos below to get a better idea of what we encountered that day. If there’s a Cars and Coffee event around you that showcases late-model GM hardware, we would LOVE to hear about it!
