The Mallet supercharged Colorado was a hit when it showed up for SEMA in 2015, and it continues to grad theĀ attention of horsepowerĀ aficionados. This mid-size pickup is putting out 700 horsepower, making it a decent alternative to the Corvette. More importantly, it does this with four-doors, four seats, and a truck bed.
So how does this Colorado manage to make so much horsepower? The short answer: Mallet Performance. This Mallet overhauled pickup is a heavily modified build. Both inside and out, this is no ordinary Chevy Colorado.
They started by plucking out the stock engine and replacing it with a 2016 Cadillac ATS-V 3.6L V6. This engine is already built for boost thanks to its forged crank, titanium connecting rods, and forged pistons. The piĆØce de rĆ©sistance of the performance build is obviously the Mallett Colorado Intercooled Supercharger assembly with a Magnuson 1.9L supercharger and 64mm C&R intercooler. The fairly comprehensive setup also has CNC machined upper and lower 8-rib pulleys, engine idler pulley, tensioner mounting plate, drill-free mounted aluminum intercooler tank and water pump, and C&R heat exchanger. Backing the engine is a modified tranny that feeds into a Moser 9ā rear.
The engine has a LT1 C7 throttle body and custom air intake. Itās outfitted with a highly custom fabbed, high flowing true dual exhaust to polish off the performance mods.
Beefy tires attempt to keep the truck from spinning. To help with stability and handling, a lot of chassis and suspension work was done by Mallett. The brakes also got an overhaul to make sure thereās enough stopping power to halt this monster.
The exterior is full of subtle details ā all plastic trim has been removed, it has a custom from grille, and custom fascia. Its front spoiler is the most in your face appearance mod, this full custom carbon gives it a mean look. Inside youāll find some sleek upgrades like the contrast stitching in the seats and Water Buffalo leather seat inserts. Some trim panels have been hydro dripped, and a six Kicker speaker with sub stereo add to the cruising pleasure.
In all of the ways the Corvette is impractical to people with kids, and those who need cargo utility, this truck has you covered. Would you choose this Colorado over a Corvette?
