VIDEO: Redline Motorsports Builds a Turbo 427 LSX CTS-V

With the new 2016 CTS-V being touted as a mid-11 second car from the factory, the performance bar has been raised for owners of the previous generation to step up their game!

Howard Tanner and the crew at Redline Motorsports in southern Florida took this all black 2012 Cadillac CTS-V Sedan and turned it into a dangerous street car. Stock from the factory, this vehicle was equipped with a supercharged 6.2-liter engine producing well over 500 horsepower. The customer wanted more power, though, and spent over a year trying to get it after dealing with another shop. Once they finally received it, the car had to be flat bedded into their garage from shoddy parts application.

The customer wanted this CTS-V to have the look and feel of a street car but be able to produce around 900 HP. The crew at Redline opted to custom build the engine and single turbo rather than implement one of the various CTS-V Phase packages that they offer to their customers.

It all started with a 427 cubic inch LSX engine block from Chevrolet Performance. The block boasts 6.125” forged steel connecting rods, 4.125” forged aluminum dished pistons as well as a 4.000” forged steel crankshaft – all from Manley. The turbo was custom built by the crew at Redline too using a Comp Turbo oil-less 71/66 mm turbocharger, 5” thick intercooler, and Magnaflow mufflers.

Obviously requiring more fuel than the stock pump can provide, this CTS-V has dual fuel pumps in a full return fuel system by Fore Innovations. The second fuel pump is used only once the boost hits 6 psi. The boost itself is set up by mph and is controlled by the AMS-2000, making tuning a little easier. On pump gas the boost is set at 13-14 psi but can go up to at least 18 psi with better fuel.

Howard Tanner himself calibrated the system for this wicked CTS-V. On Redline’s dyno, this car boasted 782.9 horsepower and 794.1 foot pounds of torque. So, this seemingly stock sedan is vicious under the hood – and plenty fast to keep those pesky V3s at bay.
