Video: Chevrolet is About to Drop a New Camaro

A huge teaser has just been released by the official Chevrolet Camaro Facebook page. On March 16th, 2016, something big is coming to the Camaro world. We’ll let you watch it a few times and let it sink in, then keep reading for our thoughts.

What do you think it will be? We’ve got a pretty good idea, and the biggest clue is in the sound. Maybe that’s why GM deprived us of any other clues, because it’s that sound that matters the most. You hear it now, don’t you? It’s that distinct whine of a supercharger. That can only mean one thing!

Our money is on the unveiling of the 6th generation ZL1. It’s pretty much known in the Camaro community at this point that the ZL1 will come out as a 2017 year model, and will have the same engine as the Z06 and Cadillac CTS-V. The supercharged 6.2L LT4 might not match the C7Z’s 650 horsepower, but it will probably hover around the CTS-V’s 640 horses instead.

From the spy shots we’ve seen, the bumper on the ZL1 has much bigger intakes than those found on the Camaro SS. It also has a different lip that leads into some bulky side sills, and four large exhaust tips. It may also have a hood-mounted heat extractor like the ones found on the C7Z and CTS-V.

It seems about time to unveil the ZL1, speculated to go on sale by the end of the year for the 2017 model. The only other option we can think of is to be side-blinded by the sudden addition of the sixth generation Z/28. Could we be looking through a Flow-Tie on a Z/28? That wouldn’t make as much sense though. What are your thoughts, do you think it’s the ZL1? Or do you think we’re just hearing things? Either way, we’ll find out Wednesday!
