First C7 ZR1 Corvette Heads to Auction for Charity

Found at lot #3309, the very first production C7 ZR1 is going to be one of the highlights of the upcoming Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson auction that kicks off on the 20th of this month. This car is being auctioned off for a good cause, and someone is going to get the ultimate supercar in the C7 lineup, and it’s quite the icon for anyone’s collection, as long as they have deep pockets.

Barrett-Jackson is waiving the auction fees for the car, so the entire purchase amount will go to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. This foundation was started by the Siller family in honor of the memory of one of their own who was an FDNY firefighter who lost his life during the tragic events on 9/11. This charity offers assistance to first responders and those who have been seriously injured in the line of duty and service.

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 is the quickest and most powerful Chevy Corvette ever made. Powering the super beast is a 6.2L supercharged engine that puts out 755-horsepower and 715 lbs-ft of torque. Backing the ultra-powerful engine is a seven-speed manual transmission. Its 0-60 mph numbers are said to be under 3-seconds, and the car will likely cover the 1/4-mile in the 10-second range. It has an official top speed of 212 miles an hour with a limiter that will kick in at 215-mph to keep the tires from tearing apart. Buying one new will cost you just under $120,000, so expect to see this one going for much more than that, although, there’s no reserve on this lot.

In addition to the ZR1, another Corvette is heading to Arizona where its proceeds will benefit charity. CEO and Chairman Craig Jackson and his wife, the VP of Brand Strategy for the company, Carolyn, will donate their personal 1988 Chevrolet Corvette 35th Anniversary Edition to benefit the American Heart Association.
