VIDEO: Redline Motorsports Tests 2016 Camaro SS and Aims for 1,000HP

The 2016 Camaro has barely been on the market long enough to get us used to seeing them out and about, but they’re getting beefed up by shops already. We’ve already seen some serious builds underway, and some major results out of the sixth generation Camaro. These cars are proving themselves left and right, and they’re actually pretty intense, and capable.

It was just a few weeks ago when we discussed Redline Motorsportstwin-turbo 6th-gen Camaro, highlighting its hardware and its baseline numbers. Now we’re getting word that Redline Motorsports isn’t holding back with their 2016 Camaro SS build. They’re on a mission to hit a milestone of their own — they’re pushing to the 1,000 horsepower mark. While they’re not quite there yet, they did take it out to stretch it’s legs recently.

You can tell that they’re getting pretty close to their goal in this video. This twin-turbo’ed 2016 Camaro SS is making a very hefty 830 horsepower to the rear wheels. It’s biting at that magic four digit number, but for now, it’s doing pretty good with what it’s putting out.

Even though it was having a few calibration issues with the automatic eight-speed tranny, the Camaro was not messing around. The turbo’ed LT1 took the SS down the 1/4 mile in only 10.2 seconds with a 146-mile per hour trap speed.

Based on what we’ve seen in this video, and what we’ve seen come out of Redline in the past, we’re excited to see what’s next for this beast. Redline is a pioneer in the late model GM performance industry, being the first to create a twin turbo kit for the sixth-gen Camaros. We bet the next time we see any footage of this monster, it will have surpassed the goal to become the first four-digit horsepower making sixth-gen.
